American chiropractic stimulates your nervous system so that your brain can communicate properly with each cell of your body.

It’s the basis for smooth interaction between nerves and organs and plays a fundamental role in regulating our stress levels, perception of pain, sleep, mood, performance, immune system, and far more besides.

When your spine is aligned, the nervous system can function optimally, and the body begins to heal itself naturally.

American chiropractic also helps sportspeople to further enhance their performance. Top athletes such as Usain Bolt or Tiger Woods undergo chiropractic adjustment before every event to produce their best performance.

Maintaining good health is a continuous process. In chiropractic, we keep your spine in balance with your nervous system so you can get the maximum out of your body.

We treat so-called subluxations or blockages that can lead to functional impairment of your nervous system or limited mobility of articulated joints.

This can result from accidents, unilateral strain, raised stress levels, medication, or even poor diet.

Your body will then often rebel with a variety of symptoms:

  • Reduced performance
  • Tiredness
  • Fatigue syndrome
  • Burnout
  • Depression
  • Headache (e.g. migraine, tension headache, cluster headache, medication over-use headache)
  • Tinnitus
  • Dizziness
  • Tension
  • Digestive disorders
  • Numbness
  • Backache
  • Herniated discs
  • Poor posture

Subluxations often exist for quite some time before symptoms make themselves felt in your body.

This is why we recommend you use American chiropractic as an effective health tool even before the onset of pain. You could compare it to servicing your car at regular intervals to keep it running smoothly.

The adjustment process targets subluxations/blockages in your system and releases them quickly but gently. This generates the impulse that the nervous system needs in order to self-regulate.

We always work well within your physiological limits to avoid injury or straining of muscles, ligaments, arteries, and veins.

The idea that the chiropractor “pops” joints back into place is a common misconception. Correcting a dislocated joint where the ball has jumped out of its socket (for instance due to a heavy fall) would count as an emergency medical procedure. This condition is known as “luxation”.

You may still have concerns about a classic adjustment treatment and would prefer to take things slowly to begin with. In this case, we also have a number of so-called low-force techniques at our disposal.

Feel free to ask us about this during the initial contact.

As a basic principle, we work out a treatment plan that is personally tailored to you.

The first time you come to us, we carry out a comprehensive anamnesis to find out who you are and what you need.
One of the tools we use to do this is a professional HRV scanner.
After that, you will receive your first treatment.

Why does it make sense to do a HRV scan?
Health, well-being and performance are significantly influenced by the state of the autonomic nervous system.
This consists of the parasympathetic nervous system (our “inner brake”) and the sympathetic nervous system (our “accelerator”).
The quality of our “inner brake” is crucial here. If too weak, it restricts our ability to regenerate, and the body becomes more prone to inflammation. Diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease and metabolic disorders (e.g. diabetes) may occur. Our mental performance also suffers as we become sensitive to external stress, and/or feel mentally below par, irritable, or depressed.
Today’s increasing demands require us to take more care of our “inner brake”. Until now, there’s been little opportunity to do so in the absence of examination procedures to determine the functional state of the “inner brake”.
Now we have the HRV scan for this very purpose: rather like a “brake test”, it specifically checks the function of our inner brake, the parasympathetic nervous system.
How is an HRV scan done?
During the HRV scan a special ECG is performed.

During the measurement, you breathe according to a precisely defined rhythm to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system in a targeted manner. A functioning parasympathetic nervous system allows the heartbeat to fluctuate in time with your breathing.

Using complex mathematical algorithms, the strength of your “inner brake” can now be calculated from the fluctuations of the heartbeats that show up in the ECG.

Important influencing factors such as age are automatically taken into account here. The HRV scan only takes a few minutes and is in no way stressful or invasive. The procedure on which the HRV scan is based was developed by German physicians in years of research and has been continuously improved. (Copyright: BioSign)

We apply this technique at your first appointment to analyse the state of your autonomic nervous system. Of course we’ll take this opportunity to explain to you the meaning and scope of HRV measurement and biofeedback training.

Free parking in front of the practice is available for you.
You can also reach us by bus (stop directly at the practice) and train.
